Are you a Camper or a 'Glamper'?

When you think of camping, what comes to mind?  Roasting marshmallows over the fire, billy tea and plastic plates?  Washing your dishes in the creek by rubbing sand over the dirty bits and having to turn a blind eye to the sand in the tent?

When we were kids, camping seemed more simple - maybe it was because we didn't have the responsibility of checking the list three times, packing the car like a jigsaw puzzle and tying down the bits that wouldn't fit in the boot onto the roof racks with occy straps... Thank goodness as kids we didn't have to think about what to pack for food!  I can't really remember what we used to eat - something along the lines of vegemite sandwiches for lunch and a sausage sizzle for dinner with a thermos lid of Cottees for us kids and a wine or VB for mum and dad?  Nowadays we eat better when we go camping than we do at home!

So here we are, 13 years into the 21st century and camping has become Australia's #1 choice when it comes to planning a holiday.  Our tourism industry is topped by - you guessed it - camping, caravanning, and 'doing it rough'... although these days camping is shall we say 'tainted' with the invention of 'Glamping'... I'll let you be the judge on that one!

If you're a camping enthusiast and are looking for all the latest gear, we can recommend a host of great family run camping stores - located in metro and regional areas right around Australia.  Click here to search by suburb and state.

You voted! You created! You NAMED THAT EZYLINE!

There were over 130 responses for the Name that Ezyline: Creative Colours Competition Survey

Thank you to everyone who participated, we have emailed you with your promotion Gift Redemption code which you can also share with friends and family if you like!

Here's how it worked:  We suggested three new names for each Ezyline pack colour and you voted for your favourite plus suggesting a name of your own creation for each colour.

And we are absolutely thrilled with your responses!  There were so many fantastic, original, clever and downright awesome new names - we sure do have a bunch of super creative Ezyliners out there!

In some cases there wasn't a clear overall winner from our suggestions and your talent overruled ours!  Also, some original names were recalled in your answers so we've decided not to change them at all.

Overall, the survey helped us in naming our existing colours as well as the new Spring / Summer range and we really hope you like them!  Thanks again for your time and terrific talent - we hope you like your Ezyline Gift and decide to share it with friends too!

Do you have a suggestion for another fun Ezyline Survey we can run with more prizes and gifts for everyone?  Email Susie at info@ezyline.com.au with your ideas and hey, if we go with your idea... there's a free pack of Ezyline in it for you!

So are you ready to see the results of the survey?

Is laundry loveable?

There are many activities in life which are easily classified into the category of 'chores'.  Chores are not our favourite past time, but they are one of life's necessities - and when they are complete, we are left to enjoy the fruits of our labour.

Laundry is one of those chores.  Laundry is always waiting, building and growing and if ignored, it can become a wave of clothes and items spilling out from the laundry basket or scattered over floors, thrown over chairs and under hiding under beds.  The only way to tame the laundry beast it is to keep a watchful eye on it, like training a puppy!

Laundry, the cycle:  There's the gathering of all the dirty laundry scattered willy nilly around the place, then there's the sorting... the whites, the darks, the delicates, the really dirty (needing the sluice) and the dreaded hand washing.  [tip: do your utmost to avoid buying clothes which require hand washing!].

Once the sorting is out of the way it's trying to cram as much into the washing machine as possible.  If you don't have to rush up to the supermarket because you've run out of powder you can press the magic button and sit back with a cuppa.  It's time for the washing machine to do it's part.  One of best inventions, don't you think?

Your cup of tea never tasted so good!  ...

Laundry - like it or not, it's not going away so best to make good friends!

Once you've dried all your laundry on your smart Ezyline all that's left is the folding.  Is that the worst part?  Because it could be looked upon as the best part - here you have all these wonderful clean clothes and you can smile knowing that you - and you alone - created this wonderful freshness ready to go back into your cupboard and begin the cycle of laundry once again!

Have fun as an Ezyline Rep

Q1: Do you love Ezyline?

Q2: Have you ever raved about how great Ezyline is to your friends and family or your neighbours?

If you answered 'Yes' then you probably have what it takes to shine centre stage as one of our valued resellers!

Some of the opportunities, starting at the top, are...

Manage your own stall at a show or exhibition with Ezyline

We've attended 3 major Camping and Caravan shows.  Rose Hill 2012: 1068 packs sold in 9 days; Brisbane 2012: 864 packs sold in 7 days; Newcastle 2013: 468 packs sold in 3 days!

It's fun!  The public response to Ezyline is overwhelming!  It's just regular 9-5 hours and all you have to do is turn up, smile, be enthusiastic, know your stuff, demonstrate how to set up and use Ezyline... it's a walk in the park and it's rewarding!

Susie and Glen from Ezyline with Kevin from Camping Country!

There are shows on all over Australia, every month:

Country shows:  www.countryshows.com.au

Camping Shows:  www.campingshow.com.au

Homewares shows:  (google 'Home Shows')

We can't travel the entire continent, so we're looking for eligible partners to attend any or many of these venues with Ezyline!

We would supply you with stock at our great wholesale rate, plus marketing tools to get you set up - including all our advertising footage on DVD and printable promotional material, plus all the hot tips and hints we've learnt on promoting Ezyline.  Any assistance you require - we'll be there to support you all the way!

Other reseller opportunities include:

Do you run your own market stall?  Would you interested in adding Ezyline to your range?  Or, have you thought about having your own stall at the markets?  There would be a local market near you... markets are always popular for shoppers looking for something different and they're a great place to meet new people and see friendly faces!  Contact us or your local council to find out more.

What about school or sports club fundraisers and fetes.  These offer a great platform for educating the public about the many benefits of Ezyline...  and have you ever thought about  your own Party Plan, or spreading the word that you are a reseller within your local club or frequented venue?

Of course, if you have a retail shop and you think Ezyline would be a great item to stock, we would be thrilled to welcome you to the team - we provide point of sale marketing material and all wholesale orders receive a FREE pack with every initial order!

If you are interested in any of the above, our friendly marketing and sales manager Susie is waiting to hear from you on 0414 520 523 or you can send her an email  info@ezyline.com.au

Ezyline versus the Tumble Dryer

Ezyline, as we all know - is for smarter drying WITHOUT a tumble dryer.  Now I know it's easier to throw everything into the CO2 chomping Fisher and Paykel or Simpson (I think mine is home brand!) but when you really get down to the nitty gritty, there are so many benefits to good old fashioned line drying!

FIRSTLY, THE BAD NEWS:

1.  Your not so humble tumble dryer , if used just three times a week will churn through around 160kg of CO2 a year... compare that to your fridge / freezer (which is on 24 hours a day, remember) only burns through around 116kg in a year.  Astonishing?  Fact!

2.  If you stop using your tumble dryer you can save more than $150 a year on your electricity bills.  And we're told that's going up too.  Turn off the dryer right now!

3.  Putting your clothing and laundry into the dryer reduces the life span of the garments... yes that's right - you know the lint you pull out of the dryer, that's not dust - that's your clothing... tiny fibres of cotton and other fabrics are pulled from your clothing as they spin in the tumble dryer.  Seams become weaker and frayed, there's more chance of your clothing pilling... remember that next time you forget to enter the filter for a few months and find a clump in there.

3B.  Leaving lint in your dryer significantly increases the cost of running a household dryer and leaves your clothes spinning forever - it takes much longer with lint in the filter to dry garments. Who needs to remember to clean the dryer filter after every use, I'd rather be outside in the sunshine hanging out towels in the sunshine and spend the money I'm saving at the movies (another expense, who can afford to go and watch a 3 hour movie in 3D... with popcorn, and coke - and if they can convince you - a SUPERSIZE ME on that please!)

4.  We all love that fresh feeling of sheets straight out of the dryer, but FACT:  sunlight does a much better job of creating that oh so fresh feeling.  Sunlight kills bacteria so your sheets will feel fresher and towels will absorb moisture better.  There is a certain amount of condensation created in the tumble dryer.  Have a think - sunny day, bit of a breeze - sheets can dry in 15 minutes!  Straight out of the wash and into the tumble dryer for over 30 minutes and I don't know about you, but my CO2 chomping Home Brand dryer leaves my sheets damp so I don't do it anymore... not to mention they start getting all crumpled up and heaven forbid if they're left in there overnight, crumple city!

5.  Oh, and if you don't have a tumble dryer, well - get ready to fork out hundreds and hundreds of dollars just to own one, and that's before you even turn it on!

NOW THE GOOD NEWS!

1.  Ezyline uses no electricity, so there's no CO2 emissions and no bills to pay.  You don't have to remember to switch it off when you go out, and every time you use Ezyline you can think of your electricity bill going down each time.

2.  Ezyline is recyclable - ever seen the pile of dryers and washing machines at your local tip or left outside your neighbours house.  Council clean up won't take your dryer away, no... you need pay for it to be removed and have it act as land fill!

3.  Ezyline will last for years out in the sun without having to be replaced.  One person would require about 4 metres of Ezyline, $30!  Calculated over 12-15 years (because Ezyline is UV-stabilised and guaranteed for 5 years but will last up to 12-15 even longer)... that's $2 per year!  That's a chocolate bar!

3B.  If you're thinking about ordinary pegs, we all know the facts - broken pegs going under the mower, catching the dog chewing them, having the kids fling them off the line, forgetting to take them when you go camping and always having to replace them!  Oh, not to mention they can rust and stain clothing.

4.  Drying your clothes outside or undercover with Ezyline = fresh fresh fresh, all the way!  The sun will kill bacteria in your clothing, sheets and towels (and socks - ew!).

5.  Does the tumble dryer come in a range of 7 colours (like Ezyline does)?

6.  Can you fold your tumble dryer up and take it on holidays - in your backpack (like you can with Ezyline)?

7.  How many price, brand and product comparisons do you need to go through before buying a dryer (not like Ezyline - we're a one stop shop!)

The story behind the Trademark 'Ezyline'

In June 2012 we shared a very proud moment at Ezyline Headquarters ...  Ezyline's Certificate of Registration of Trademark was received after months of waiting for approval!

If you had time to read For the Love of Ezyline in our last blog post you would know about the name changes our much-loved Australian invention - Ezyline pegless clothesline - underwent before taking to the stage as 'Ezyline'!

So why did we trademark Ezyline?

We decided some months ago to apply with IP Australia for a trademark for Ezyline.  There's loads of ezy-this and ezy-that in the marketplace, we're another kid on the ezy-block - I'm sure you know it's a growing trend to take it ezy:  videoezy, ezydvd, ezypay, ezyinsure, ezydirect, hey there's even ezy tomato sauce relish and it goes on... it's a force to be reckoned with!  Applying for a trademark seemed like a good thing to do in such a big ezy-pond and the more we read up about it, the more we liked the idea.

Trademarks are referred to as 'a way of identifying a unique product or service. Sometimes called a brand, a trade mark is your identity.'

For us at Ezyline, it was about helping you, Ezyline users and newcomers to our website or products in-store, to trust that we are committed to providing the best quality pegless clothesline there is.  Ezyline is unique in it's design and functionality, and with a unique logo which is protected by a trademark, it helps us to feel more confident in promoting our brand.

It's quite a simple process in applying but then the wait is on - your trademark has to meet certain requirements of the Trademarks Act (Ezyline - yes, tick!), then it is advertised in Australian Official Journal of Trade Marks for anyone to contest... we passed the test and here we are!

If you think a trademark would be good for your brand or company, well yes we'd recommend it, it secures your place in such a wide arena and gives you and your customers confidence in your brand and product.  If you'd like to know more about registering a trademark, try IP Australia, they helped with us and they were great!  http://www.ipaustralia.gov.au/

For the love of Ezyline

You may find it interesting, perhaps even a joy, to know that Ezyline is a small family business operating from home in Sydney.

You can find our brilliant Managing Director Chris, (our wonderful and beloved inventor and amazing Dad), my brother David and myself (Susie) at the family home in Gordon, on the North Shore.  Chris and I share a small office, where we work side by side (quite amicably considering we're related!) whilst David carefully monitors the packaging operations with passion and vigour.

Way back when Ezyline was in the early stages of conception, Chris laboured as a humble tree-cutter in Ku-ring-gai.  Working from sun-up to sun-down climbing trees and dreaming of (and tirelessly working on) the peg-free line for which he won Young ABC Inventors when he was just 18 years old.  Then, in 1967 he had the same passion and belief in the product that we have happily shared with him throughout the years.

The peg free clothesline has always been a part of my life, I've never known a day without it, but back then, it didn't go by  the wonderful name of Ezyline... that name was thought up by one of David's school mates some years back.  Thanks Damien Conoulty!

There was a lot of debate over the name when we were starting out.  Back in the day we would pack the peg-free lines in our lounge room for shows and exhibitions (before the internet ploughed into our lives).  Chris, David and I would gather our friends together - bribed by Pizza in summer and a warm fire in winter - to labour with love at a little Aussie dream.  Dire Straits would play loud enough to herd a thousand cattle into the eye of a needle and we would all work into the night, joining links, folding labels, sealing bags, packing boxes - talk about a labour love, and what fun we had - if only we could dig into the archives of time and produce a film, it would make for a great documentary!  For now though, you'll have to use your imagination.

Some might remember earlier names of Ezyline, dreamt up during those hours filled with laughter and song.  They included (and we still have some of the artwork!) Klingers, Grippit, Nu Line, No Pegs!, Sunline, Adventure Line... You name it, well... we named it (more than once!) - we used it!  In the early days we thought it was all about the name - Tell 'em the name son!  And we like the one we've stuck with.  Believe me, it's like naming the family pet! So now you know the remarkable, original Australian invention, the peg-free clothesline, as Ezyline,.  It fits nicely - we hope you like it too.  Last year we registered our Ezyline logo as a trademark, so it seems she's here to stay.  Many thanks to Rebecca Allen for the beautiful original artwork.

We hope you've been entertained with the next stage of the Ezyline story.  More on 'For the love of Ezyline' to come and you will be notified in our newsletters when it does.  You can always follow our blog to follow updates and we'd love to hear any comments you might have.

Warm regards, The Ezyline Team - Chris, David, Susie and Banjo the Dingo xo

Ezyline helps with Arthritis and other mobility difficulties

For those who struggle with clothes pegs or have balance difficulties when hanging out and bringing in the daily wash, the one-handed, comfortable operation of Ezyline is going to be of great benefit.

Featured on the Independent Living Centre site and LifeTec display centre in Brisbane, Ezyline has received much recognition and praise from Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and the general public who have communicated the positive benefits of using Ezyline as a therapeutic alternative to pegs for any who have limited mobility in their fingers, hands and body.

Your product seems to be a an ingenious invention. One that will help me as a person with a disability, being wheelchair bound, due to my lack of body (& particularly hand) control. (Julie Ann)

As a person who has had MS for more than half my life, I find the Ezyline to be a true asset to me. I suffer from poor balance and the chore of holding the washing line with one hand and pegs with another has always been a challenge. I am an independent person living at home and Ezyline helps me greatly with the daily chore of washing - it even makes laundry enjoyable.  (Sheila)

I have been waiting to contact your company and purchase your product for some time now and unfortunately was unable to respond to your advertised deal on WA television last night. As an amputee getting up and down from a wheelchair to peg cloths is difficult so I have a tendency to just throw them over the line, I THINK your product would make my job alot easier now my daughter and her 2 pre-school aged children have moved back home (all those little socks and undies!). NB Even I have tried to invent a user friendly peg for some years so I am greatly impressed by your product if it solves a never ending problem for me. (Kathleen)

Your Ezyline is fantastic works a treat for me, I have shown it to a lot of people and all were very impressed with it. (Barry, wheelchair bound)

Hi, think this is a great idea, as we are both elderly and suffer with severe arthritis your product would be of great assistance to us. Congrats on a great product. (Fiona)

We are all arthritis sufferers and the product looks ideal for that. (Serena)
If all goes well you have a captive market here - I live in an over 50's resort with a number of residents with arthritis (me included)! I can put a flyer up on our noticeboard if you would like to include one in my parcel. We have about 350 residents here ranging in age from 50-90 odd who are always looking for ways to make life a little easier. (Bronwyn)

I have purchased two sets of 4 Ezyline since 2009. Also a set was given to me by my sister after I suffered a stroke in 2009, leaving me permanently unable to use my left arm after the rest of my body recovered somewhat. The Ezyline has been a god sent to me as I have always been a independent wife and mother. To be able to hang my washing and bring it in is fabulous thanks to this great product. Many thanks for making my life some what easier (Janette)
